Looks like Alan Greenhall second row, maybe Bernard Coyle front row.
Think Alan played centre.

Ah Division 2 Rugby ......the wilderness years Player coach George Fairburn front centre.

Comment by: London John on 26th May 2017 at 20:36

Les Bolton - front left.. Poor health has taken it's toll, but what a cracking rugby man.

Comment by: tuddy on 26th May 2017 at 23:18

It was 80/81 when Wigan played in division two. I think the coach in this year was Kel Coslett.

There are a lot of local lads in this squad .nearly all apart from Fairburn ,kiss, and Vigo

Comment by: Howard P on 27th May 2017 at 14:29

I suspect none of these would get into today's team.

Comment by: Garry on 27th May 2017 at 17:47

No Howard, they might be a little too old now lol.

Comment by: Brian on 27th May 2017 at 18:53

Bernard Coyle would , , wonderful player. What I saw, my own opinion that is. For me Wigan rugby changed when likes of Andy Gregory/ Shaun Edwards appeared , we now had brains within a team , just like Alex
Murphy at saints . They controlled the game. Again, just my opinion.

Scholes Malc: make sure that your own spelling is correct before you criticise someone else's...

Scholes Malc...your..you...!!!!! you've made yourself look like a right PLONKER. To criticise Ron for spelling a name wrong, you should be ashamed of yourself. How many photographs have you contributed to the site?

Comment by: Wiganer on 27th May 2017 at 21:35

Comment by: Howard P on 28th May 2017 at 09:07

I suspect you've all made your point, about spelling...but remember, no one's perfect.

Comment by: Albert. on 29th May 2017 at 10:39

I sincerely hope that each of these lads are still all fit, and well, and that the passage of time has treated them well.
