Used to go fishing with John Waterworth all around the time this pic was taken, and bumped into him for the first time in donkey's years, a few weeks ago.

Martin, are you sure these were old boys at the time of the photo? I think Les Barton would only have been 17ish in '73.
I worked with Roy Parr at Parsonage. Didn't he marry BB's daughter

Comment by: Stey on 21st May 2015 at 12:16

Sorry Martin, didn't read the colts bit. So sorry to hear Les has passed on.

Is it the same John Waterworth who lived in Standish, the one I mean was a Joiner.
I knew Keith Barton as well, he was a Leccy at Plank Lane.

Comment by: Mick on 22nd May 2015 at 23:22

Cliff - the John Waterworth I mentioned above is a joiner, but I don't know where he lives.
We both used to be in the fishing club at the Colliers Arms in Frog Lane, in the 1970s.

Hello Jimmy...i believe from reading the comments that you are Les Barton's cousin....I am his daughter :D

Comment by: RON HUNT on 26th May 2015 at 10:35

Les Barton is my wife's cousin.
His dad worked at Plessey Wallgate 1960's/70's when I did. I believe that he(Les's dad) played for Huddersfield at one time?

Stey, if you mean by BBs daughter, you mean Barry Brennan's daughter, sorry his eldest daughter is unmarried, and his youngest daughter got married December 2014, and I know that for a fact, cos Im their mother! Barry and I were married in 1972, and until recently he still had that blooming leather jacket hes wearing in the pic! He loathed Orrell with a passion, hes mellowed a bit now. Barry was 26 in 1973, our oldest daughter was born in 1975. Nice to see the pic, he had a lot more hair then than he does now!

Comment by: Pepsi on 31st May 2015 at 23:06

Jennifer he meant he married Billy Boston's daughter

Comment by: Jennifer on 2nd June 2015 at 10:53

Thanks for the clarification Pepsi, I though it seemed a bit strange😀

Comment by: Stey on 3rd June 2015 at 18:59

Sorry Jennifer, as Pepsi says I was meaning Billy Boston. Glad to hear Barry got him moneys worth out of that jacket though haha
