I can't see them!
It's 1971/72 season and I'm seeing keeper Dennis Reeves with Graham Oates near him. The player with the ball is full back John King (ex Tranmere), running away is Gordon Milne (4) and I think the others are Billy Sutherland and Geoff Davies.
Didn't the other team show up then?
Such memories - Springfield Park. I remember going to the opening of the floodlights on the night they beat Crewe. Think it was 4-0 or 4-2. Attendance 4,000 plus.
Jarvo, it was Wednesday 19th October 1966 in the Northern Floodlit League. Latics were 4 up in 23 minutes before beating Crewe 4-2 in front of 4,891 fans. The Official Opening of the Floodlights against Man City was on the following Monday with 10,119 fans seeing City win 4-0.
Giants Hall chimney can be seen if I'm right in thinking.
Jeff: I went to that one as well. I remember City fielded a strong team. It was at a time when I too young to go to Molineux on my own; all that changed 12 months later when I attended my first home game against Coventry City. Wolves won 2-0 with Peter Knowles netting both. A crowd of 32,000 plus witnessed that. I always had a soft spot for Latics, and still have. But on Saturday we need to win to get us in those two semi-finals. Best of luck either way.
I think the bloke in the trilby is Jacky Fishburns brother-in-law. Can't swear to it though
I believe it was the players warming up before the match against the team playing in white (pic #26395)that I sent in recently. It is most probably in August/early September of 1971.
Jeff - if this is the case, can we now identify the team playing in white?
