You have every right to be a very proud lady, Sally. By putting a photograph of these trophies on W.W.A., you have shown it.
To be picked for your Country in any sport must be a great honour, all your Family must be very proud of your Grandad .
Why have we not heard more about this man? He must be worth a plaque in the new swimming pool,or one of those stars outside of the library.
My Grandfather, JH Cockrell, the Baths Superintendent mentioned in the press cutting of your Grandfathers Funeral, new your Grandfather well if I remember correctly. He'd been at Wigan Baths since the early 1930's and had lots of memorabilia of that great age of Water Polo. My own Father played for the town team and Lancashire and even went over to Holland playing, immediately after the War. His National Service from 1946-48, put paid to any further involvement at that level and by the early '50's the game went into a sharp decline. You must be very proud of your Grandfathers achievements, it was a tough sport.
