Hi Derek, any chance of you finding out the address, by looking through a magnifying glass at the address on the truck door? Can't make it out from the photo you uploaded.

Hi Ron,
The writing on the door says T.R.Philips.Carrier, Wigan.
Number plate EK5758 when dad died my mother and i went through his personal things and she gave me this photo of my grandfather the only photo i have of him,Mum has now also passed away so i am also in a bit of a dead end in finding out more,i have just sent this photo to my cousin Freddy Bannister who used to own the Ball and Boot in wigan but now lives in spain,he might be able to shed some light on this photo, will let you know when i get a reply.

I took a copy into Laycocks yesterday to se if they could give me some info. They told me that their premises used to be in Powell st/ Greenough st. I will have a look in the trade directories to see if I can find an exact address.

This is a photo of my late grandfather Fred Bannister who was the manager of Laycocks woodyard until his retirement the woodyard was in Greenhough St
