His parents were George Ganderton 1847 -1900 & Eleanor Grace Jones 1851 - 1917.
Kevin, was Edward any relation to John Ganderton who along with wife Maggie had the Queen's Head at Newtown. I'm asking as Edward does have a resemblance of John.
A few years ago I gave to a charity shop a jacket that I'd had for a few years and which had large lapels like on the photo, and I was thinking lately that I should have kept hold of it as jackets with those large lapels are now back in fashion.

Yeah, this is John's uncle Edward. John dad was Charles Ganderton, he died in WW1.
They had some cracking concert nights at the Queen's Head Kevin, I remember one which was a take on The Good Old Days complete with compere who'd swallowed a Thesaurus and folks dressed in period like costume, and some of the locals doing their acts were as good if not better than those on TV. Derek always got roped in as barman, though he always looked to be enjoying himself. Darts competition nights were also very popular too and the pub was packed.
