I remember Mickey Dalton, He often walked down Ince Green Lane in the middle of the road! What a character!

I was told he was a drunkard.

A downright nasty piece of work. He cheated people out of money, he lied, and was a troublemaker.
Many landlords woudn't serve him, and bus conductors wouldn't have him on their buses.
Some indication of Dalton's real character might be gained from the fact the advertised life story never appeared, on account of the number of complaints the Observer received.
The comments on Item #: 30465 in the album paint a proper picture of him.

Going off TonyL's comment above, I remember my Mam telling me a tale about Mickey which would agree with Tony's sentiments. I won't say what it was but it disgusted me and was in complete contrast to his annual habit of walking with the Church Walking Day.

Tony l your right he was a nasty piece of work.
He promised to do a job for my gran and then dissapeared with the money she gave him to buy the stuff for the job.Her neigbours warned her he was a liar and a cheat but she was very trusting.

I remember where he used to live and he put plastic flowers in the garden, it seemed strange walking passed in December with three inch of snow on the ground and seeing Tulips and Daffodils poking out!

A charlatan and a trickster. This vile human being was given a glowing testimonial by a notable poster who regularly brought these message boards into disrepute. A man that embarrassed Wigan whilst under the banner of the church. Disgusting.

Dave johnson, where did he live ? in the mid 1950s he lived/lodged at No 6 silver st . my grandmother lived next door No 4

AH, in the early 1970s I'm sure he lived or lodged at Worsley Hall, on Daisy Road or thereabouts, he'd often be seen mooching around the pubs and clubs around Pemberton cadging drinks off the unwary.

In the 70s and up to his death in the mid 80s, he lived at 6 Daisy Road Worsley Hall.
Further to Dave Johnson's comment about plastic flowers, he always had a big vase of them in his front window, with the curtains drawn up either side of it.
