A publicity photograph taken from a 1963 copy of SPOTLIGHT a book for casting/film directors. She appeared in the early episodes of Coronation street as Lucille Hewitt. I think off hand, she appeared in the very first episode?

Yes, 1960 to 1974. Live it Up in which Jennifer Moss stars is often shown on Talking Pictures TV. She married in 1968 Peter Hampson the son of Jeff Hampson who owned the Malt Works and Potter's Herbal Supplies, it only lasted a year, she was married five times in all, her last husband in 1989. She did bits and bobs here and there acting on television programmes and also appeared alongside Patricia Routledge in the TV series Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, in the episode Woman of the Year. She died in 2006 aged 61, she certainly lived a life.

When I worked at PARCELFORCE she came to the depot in Goose Green to collect a parcel. She was a taxi driver and was living in Runcorn.Probably around 1983/4

She was a very troubled young woman who hit the bottle after her father died. I think she lived in the row of houses not far from the entrance to Gidlow Cemetery growing up. I used to pass there on the way home from Chorley ROF in the mid sixties, it looked a lovely house, yet she ended up homeless later. She was sacked from Coronation St because of bad behaviour. Married 5 times and had 3 children, 2 died quite young and one was adopted. Her last husband was the one she stayed with the longest before she died in her early sixties. Not all the stars of Corrie did well apart from a very few after leaving the series. Hard to fathom out why she turned out as she did after such a promising start. I don't remember her in anything else after Coronation St. But I believe she became a taxi driver - a long way to fall after everything she achieved. Very sad.

Was she any relation to Tom Moss who lived around the Wigan lane area.

It was alcohol that caused her problems on Coronation Street, Veronica. A friend of mine was in touch with her in her later years and visited her when she lived in Runcorn. She lived at 320 Wigan Lane, just before Mere Oaks, when she was in Corrie.

When I worked at Whelley Hospital,we had a patient who was only young but had problems ( Can't say why ) Her little girl was brought with Jennifer's little one by the lady who worked at their care home..can't say much more, but it was a very sad scene.

I know she was always in the paper for something or other. One of the originals who were looked on as 'stars' of Corrie. Can you imagine today's actors being so popular, I don't even know who's who these days and I don't want to know either. It was of its time in the sixties and you wouldn't want to miss an episode, every character was famous in their own right. I wonder what the old actors would think of today's Corrie actors....Ena,Minnie and Martha sitting in the snug. So old fashioned, if you see an old episode in black/white..

You're right, Veronica. I watched the first episode of Coronation Street in December 1960. I was eight years old and how we all loved this programme where the people lived in terraced back streets like our own, with a pub and a corner shop. We used to discuss the episodes in the playground. I never missed and episode until the 1990s then just suddenly went off it and have never watched it since.

Jennifer's dad was Reggie Moss he was the general manager at Brown and Haigh's in Wood Street of Chapel Lane in the 1960's when I worked there

Jenny was also a very talented singer and recorded several records in the 1960s. This one Please Let It Happen To Me, is from Live It Up, 1963, she was free to be the film as at the time there was a TV technicians strike. https://youtu.be/aoxnnNpfWJg

Ron, the best person to ask about Jenny is Geoff Shryhane, he knew her very well.

I grew up with Jenny and regard her as my first 'girlfriend'. She lived next door but one to me at 300 Wigan Lane just before Old Lane. We enjoyed some good times together as teenagers and she would always call round to see my mum even when she was 'famous'. Yes, she had a tragic end to her life but I will always have happy memories of her.

I worked in the Switchboard office from 1962-1964 and remember Jennifer’s dad who I worked for. This was my first job at 16. Happy days!
