James (Jimmy) Hollingsworth at a wedding sometime before he died in 1953. I don't know the women but Mum always told me they were relatives. He was still working when he died after coming off night shift at the pit.

I take it this is your grandfather Elizabeth's husband ? He didn't live long after she died then in 1946. Two sisters died in January 1946 and then my grandmother died in February 1948. They are buried in graves next to one another.

I recall my dad saying there was a connection with Hollingsworths fish shop in Scholes. When I went errands I always had to go there for fish. The older lady looks a bit familiar.

Yes he worked every Friday after coming off night shift. He went for the horse and cart at the fish shop, the to Wigan Wallgate station to collect the fresh fish from Fleetwood and the delivered the fish to the shop and I think to other places too. I never went with him but he loved that horse and kept it in the field at the back of our house in Somerset Road sometimes in the summer holidays to give it a treat grazing in the field. Once when some boys threw stones at the horse it came out of the field and into the street, walked up the garden path and knocked at the door with it's hooves! It was very intelligent and well loved.
Veronica what were your parents names so I can see how we are related?

My dad was William Catterall and my mam was known as Betty but 'Tizzy' to relatives. My dad had a brother John who I believe used to dance with Winifred at times! Their Mother was Mary Jane Catterall nee Morgan married to Jack Catterall ( John. I only found various information out when doing family history years ago) .My dad died in 2000 and supplied more information to me. He would never let my mother buy anything of Japanese origin - he didn't even like her making rice pudding! Due to your Uncle Jimmy I think! He was very much llike Thomas Morgan who I believe looked like his Welsh Grandfather.
