I wonder how many cyclists in the Wigan area had tandems in the 1928-30 era? I would like to think that my parents, whilst out on theirs, would pass the time of day with the likes of John Jackson and his good lady.Very little traffic to bother them in those days. The open road was theirs to travel on. Punctures were common according to Fathers' cycling diary (CTC) as was the old lights (carbide) on long evening rides failing-top up with water.
