Mr. Jackson stands before one the lakes at Wrightington. Which lake in particularly I'm not entirely certain, but most likely the one on the south side of the road. Mr. Jackson and his family resided at No.6 Mawdsley St. Hindley, an address which no longer exists. Note the badge on the pocket of his jacket. It's the emblem of the CTC, The Cyclists Touring Club of Great Britain. This same emblem can be seen on the wall of the Vic in Wallgate. His reason for wearing it will become clear over the coming weeks. This photograph was taken in 1929, so I think it ticks all of the boxes.

Nailed on its the southern aspect Oz. Lovely to see it's not changed a bit. Apart from the gear of course. No electric custard lycra for this gent. Bet he never rode three abreast pretending to be in the tour de France and causing traffic chaos. These chaps could cock on and off better than any Manx missile.

That is Wrightington Fish Pond bridge near the hospital.

Mr. Jackson's white jacket-button could be of further significance. The late Lord Derby requested that one white button be included on his own racing silks; black jacket with one white button, and white cap.

It's interesting to walk over the bridge and to read the old graffiti from the mid 20th century that is carved into the coping stones.
