It is 50 years ago today since my uncle Robert was killed in a motorbike accident on Rose Bridge. He is still very much missed by his twin sister Lilian (my mum) If you remember Robert and want to share your memory my mum would love to hear your stories. This picture show him with his friend Jimmy Sudworth (top) Robert (bottom)

I didn't know Robert but this reminds me Carol, that it was also 50 years ago that a friend of mine was killed in a motor bike accident, Brian Harrison, Brian lived on Broadway in Hindley having recently moved there from Alder Lane, he was just 16 having left school a year before.

Carol i think me and my mate witnessed this accident if its the same one he came over rose bridge and a wagon was pulling out of the street just over the bridge the wagon was all across the road and Robert had nowhere to go resulting in the accident and his unfortunate death.

I knew Robert, we were in the same year at school and all played together as kids. I lived next door to Jimmy Sudworth in Heaton St. Robert was a very happy go lucky lad and very funny at times. I remember the accident well. RIP Robert.

Jimmy can't believe it's 50yrs since the accident and was a bit emotional when he realised I know he misses Bob even after all these years when he talks about his younger days Bob always comes in the conversation rip Bob

Bob,I remember him well,From the time he blew a hole in the back kitchen door with a 12 bore shotgun, that was in Windleshaw Street we never ran as fast and climbed over the wall into Delegarte Street scared to death. His dad went ape when he got home,Can't remember what happened but i think he was grounded for a while.Funny days those but we enjoyed everything and can laugh about it today,A sad day on Rose Bridge i remember it still.
