He seems to have Maneater under control now, lol.
George was born in Wigan, September 1904, his name was George Hoy Booth, looks as if he was probably 5 or 6 years of age at the time this photo was taken.
an aunt of mine used to mention George Formby riding down the road on his pony.
This was probably taken at the Abbey Lakes Pleasure Grounds, on the site where Norman Hughes's garden centre was later. Think it's a caravan compound now.

My Ex's family were related to George Formby in some way, not sure how though, Family name was Beckett from Poolstock.
how funny joan , iknow we are not relaited but, my cousin gerry mawdsley, is sutch a great fan of george he playes the yuk sooooo well and he performes everywhere,hes been in films and only the other week gave our family for our uncle franks 80th the most wonderfull performance it was amazeing,he has loved george from being a lad and tought himself to play the youkalayly to wach him is amazing and so funny,i am so proud to say i am his cousin xxx
