I am currently reading a library book titled THE PIT BROW WOMEN of the Wigan coalfield, written by Alan Davies. On page 108 there is a photo of Sally Gittoes leaving the pithead in the early 1950's.
Hello, Maureen, I have a copy of that book and was able to supply Aunty Sally's name to Alan Davies. I love that pit brow pic of her with her ever-present snile under all the coal-dust, and she is so like my Dad,(her brother), on it.
