Brock Mill Lane, Wigan. Scanned from an old postcard. Postally used 1905.

Thanks to Brenda for more info who thinks this is Foundary Cottage, off Leyland Mill Lane, going down to Haigh Foundary, and Jeffery Millers (malt works).

I and my sisters, Audrey and Beryl, were lucky to have spent many happy years living here as we grew up. . Our parents Esther and Stanley, re-named it Eskwyn Cottage, taken from our surname hESKeth and mum,s maiden name WINstanley.Wonderful memories.

This is definately a view from Leyland Mill Lane bridge (over the river Douglas) looking at what is now called Eskwin House. The house was originally built by the Haigh Foundry Management in or after 1789 as the Foundry Managers house which is very likely to have been the house that Robert Daglish the builder of the first steam locomotive in Lancashire lived in when he first moved to Wigan from Scotland to take up the Managers post. As previous people have stated, this not Brock Mill Lane. Please note that the house and driveway are private with no public access.
