This was a Seaman's Mission constructed of corrugated sheets and wood. Brought down the canal from Seaforth, Liverpool and erected on Warrington Road in Abram in the 1800s. Since demolished and bungalows built on the site.

The Tin Chapel, holds some fond memories for me.My Grandmother Maggie Walker was a strong methodist.Me my sister and brother were all baptized there,in the 1960's.I remember it being pulled down but not the year it happened.

This brings back happy memories. My mother was Mary Lodge (one of the Adamson sisters) and I was taken to the Chapel from being a young child until I married and left the area in 1974. Happy days come to mind, Sunday School Anniversaries, Walking Day and numerous social evenings, the Chapel was like a second home.

I remember Lena and Frank. My father has preached there on various Sunday School Anniversaries. I have photos of the walking days

Good to see your comment David, she was always Annie Mann just as my mum was always Mary Adamson!!

My late wife, Olive Moran, ran a playgroup in the church for many years with Marjory, up until its closure and I now live in one of the bungalows built on the site of the church.

Can someone please tell me which branch of the Methodist church this Abram chapel came from eg, Primitive, Wesleyan, United?

Alan, It was originally a Primitive Methodist Church until the nineteen-thirties when the various branches of Methodism amalgamated.
