Hard to believe, my new house is built on this site now,the difference in quality of life is mind blowing really, 100 years of change..we've come a long way haven't we...
My grandmother Helen Green(later Pemberton) had a brother die of his injuries recived in the Maypole Pit disaster in 1908,
Many of the familey worked at the pit, Edward Green, Frank Green their Father also worked theie Aaron ( spelling may be wrong )Green, spent a lot of time in the pub next too the Church when not working ,Frank Green is still alive aged 97 he lives in Lee Lane and has two sons,Tom and David. Edward Green later joined the Police Force He past away in 2002
