The first Hope Street Congregational Chapel, which according to note on rear of pic, was situated at junction of Hope Street and Woodcock Street. Photo believed to be from 1880s.
My Grandfather Charles Farnsworth Richardson was pastor of the Hope St Chapel from about 1896-1917. Was this view of the chapel at that time?

On a very early map this church is identified simply as ‘Independent Chapel’ and was roughly where Mick says, this was before Woodcock Street, Mesnes Street or Market Street were invented and what was to become the Market Square was a field known as Boothrrs Croft. Hope Street ran the route we all know from Standishgate to what was to become Market Street.
All this predates the railways so must be early to mid 1800’s

Correction: Hope Street route from Standishgate to New Market Street.
