My great grandfather,John Hampson was killed at ? this colliery when the roof collapsed on the 8th Jan 1920.However, I have the colliery written down as Brundells. Is this the same one does anybody know?
It was definately 'Blundells' Though I don't know enough about its history to comment on the incident you mention. Fred Foster can probably help, I think he worked there.
Fred, this picture is puzzling me: If it is Blundells, and it looks like it is, I don't remember being able to see the headgears at Golborne from there. And from the picture angle/direction, wouldn't Golborne be 90 degrees or so to the right ? As I say, I'm baffled ?
The headgears in the background are of Bickershaw Colliery
not Golborne as suggested.
i never saw any other headgear from goose green tips and that was stood on top of the yoyo.all goose greeners know the yoyo and bickershaw is far too far away.that headgear looks approx a mile away at the most
