What a great atmospheric shot that is.
If the clock is right, maybe workers boarding for the afternoon turn at Irlam Steel Works. I do know that the Irlam train used to leave from here.
I would love to use your pics on the Pits and Railways dvd.

Brilliant photo-my dad used to travel to work from this station in the 1950s going to Bickershaw Colliery getting
off at Westleigh and Bedford Station on Crankwood Rd further down the line and then walking to the pit
great memories keep em coming.
