circa 1980 looking up the canal towards the Kirkless Works and showing the old bridge pillars that used to carry the Roundhouse Branch Line over the cut and into the Coal and Iron Works.
If you take a look at the fantastic picture in ww/work/wigan coal and iron/#808 from Ron Hunt this iron bridge is clearly visible and is the twin of the one lower down over the Iron Bridge Lock that carried the Whelley loop. I'd love to have seen this bridge here.
