If that is the Navvy in Gathurst it must have been knocked down and rebuilt again because the present one is a completely different shape

I don't think this is the Navigation at Gathurst? For one the building isn't the same as on the other postcard showing the Navigation on the site. Two the Navigation at Gathurst is callled Hotel This one is called Inn. Could it be Leigh?????
Yep, my fault. There was a Navigation Inn in Ince according to the 1881 directory, could this be it? The entry reads:
Wilkinson Evan, Navigation Inn, 19 Warrington road, Ince
The pub would have been at Britannia Bridge if it was this.
Having done some research about the pubs in Leigh this is definitely the long departed Navigation at Siddow Common opposite English Street on the Bridgewater Canal. There are other pictures around showing the same windows, chimneys and so on. See the Leigh Life website for example.
