Wigan Album

The Market Place 1826 from a contemporary water colour by Thomas Whitehouse of Wigan. The building on the left is the Moot Hall, rebuilt around this time and demolished in 1869. On the right is the New Town Hall built in 1720 and demolished in 1882 to make way for street improvements. The building next but one to the Moot Hall is the Black Horse pub ( marked)
