The old Pony Dick pub, Billinge Road, at the entrance to Winstanley Hall.
the wagon road that is showing ran across to join the wagon road that is now the footpath behind Langholm Close. From here it crossed Warrington Road at Clapgate Lane and continued to Wigan Pier where the coal was emptied into barges. It came from Bankes's colliery which was in the Winstanley Park. The horse that drew the wagons would ride on a flat bed as it freewheeled down to the pier and then pull the empty wagon back again.
