Wasn’t there a Sherrington’s Ironmongers further down the row towards Scholes as well ? I don’t know if they were related.
I love this photo and I have seen it before. I have a photo of the family inside their grocery shop as well.

I'm sure Polly Sherrington's was in the row that is still there, currently houses Banks funerals and the chemist is next door.

No Pam. That was Ann Sherringtons shop. Polly's shop was on the opposite side of the road between Baron St and Bolton St.

The Sherrington's motor repair garage which up to around the late 1980s was on Kirkless Street/Caunce Road, did it belong to this same family? looking on winnie's post there is a William Sherrington motor mechanic.

rushtons wss at the top of bolton st and scholes i used to deliver his orders for them on a errand bike there was a sherringtons next door when polly passed i think the family turned the shop into a small general stoe

top of baron st / scholes was billy worthinton barbers shop just to the left of the photo there .

Polly Sherrington and the hardware Sherrington's any the corner of Schofield Lane were the same family
