This is a view of the West side of the Power Station. The West and East chimney stacks on the left. The higher square building was the large boiler house containing five high pressure steam boilers plus auxiliaries. The adjoining lower square building was the turbine hall containing four 32 megawatt generators. The other, even lower square building was the office block and on the extreme right of the photo was yet another square building where the Control Room and battery room were situated.
I never knew much about the power station but remember passing it on a bike and seeing quite a few sunken barges in the canal near to it.
Hi, Tom! I hope there are some more somewhere. These I found in a paper bag with some other old pictures. That was years ago but I always thought they were worth keeping as historical documents.
They were either outtakes (and the better ones are still somewhere) or they weren't considered valuable enough to be put into an album... They were definitely self-developed.
I'll try and find more the assumed "others" as soon as possible...
