My mom got the postcard in 1962. It shows Wigan Pier in the centre and (clockwise from top left) Standishgate, Mesnes Park, Haigh Hall, Parish Church

Another good postcard Michael. So in 1962 The Park was known as Menses Park, thats what my family always used to call it.

It's always been Mesnes Park officially, Helen. It's just that most local people seem to call it Wigan Park. Same with the park I grew up near in Ince....it is actually called Walmesley Park but even most Incers didn't know that....at least not when I was a child. They just knew it as INCE Park. Aren't these photos brilliant, Helen?!

They most certainly are Irene ! I love looking at photos of times gone by....even the 60's seem a long time ago !
