Love the mini-dress, Veronica!
Did we really wear dresses so short ?!
......& the young fashion trendies think they are so cool these days. Huh !
Wow that's how I imagined you'd look like, beautiful and elegant. I wish girls would dress like that today.
I think the car is a Vauxhall Victor.
You can just see our house 1 hardybutts. Neighbours were. No 3 Hales.no 5 Reddington. I baby sat for both of the families & no 7 the Eccleston family. X
A dancers legs if ever I saw them Veronica ! Lovely warm picture of a time once was !
Them vauxhall victors were rot boxes, they love rust. Some use to call them rust buckets.
Now come on, Veronica.....you have to enter for "Strictly Come Dancing" after those lovely compliments!
Nobody’s mentioned the slaughter house! I lived opposite there for two years and never needed an alarm clock. I would totter down the steps half asleep but if it hadn’t been for the poor animals and the noise they made I would have missed the coach to Euxton.
Anyway thank you for the lovely compliments to those two gallant gentlemen. I have to say Irene I did my fair share of bopping on the dance floor but I would be like a sack of spuds on Strictly.
I must have been visiting my mam and dad that day I never missed going every week. The Slaughter House existed a lot longer than Lowes House ever did as it was demolished and there’s another similar building in its place... but
Hardybutts with the old terraces was never the same afterwards it did connect with Birkett Bank at that time.
I was trying to think of the name of those flats Veronica, but I was thinking of Limes House, but yes it was Lowes House and it was the Limefield flats that was on Lime Street.
Was that King's or Forster's slaughter house?
I think Limes House was on the other side of Scholes Cyril. I didn’t know the name of the slaughter house it just seemed odd in the middle of all the new property as it was then. I witnessed the demise of old Scholes and now it’s the town centre’s turn. All in the space of half a century…a lot of those flats in Scholes look so rough..it’s tragic! My generation was lucky enough to buy our own homes …but the ones like my mam and dad weren’t that lucky. It was a shame.
The slaughter house was I think near Silver St and Spring St.
But I much prefer looking at Veronica......those great years, I need a sherry.
There was another slaughter house at Stephens way Goose Green, not sure if it's still going.
THE SLAUGHTER HOUSE WAS IN SILVER STREET. SPRING STREET IS OPPOSITE THE CAR.
