At the East end of the South aisle of the church. A similar screen, to the memory of Colonel Cuthbert Blundell (1879-1947), was erected in the North aisle, and acted as the entrance screen to the church's WW2 Memorial Chapel. This may have been erected partly to reflect the important role miners played in the war effort, facing death to get the coal for the Navy and munitions factories etc..
The inscription reads: To the Glory of God and in grateful memory of all those who for many generations have worked in the coal mines near this church. This screen was erected by the owners of Pemberton Colliery. 1919-1946.
Acknowledged to the Historic Society of Lancs & Chesh. - Vol. 117 of their Transactions, from an article by D Anderson on Wages & Disputes etc.
