Another photo from Father's album. This was taken on July 2nd 1927.
Afternoon walk from Pemberton through Dean Wood to Gathurst and Martland Mill Bridge where he took the Trolley Bus ride back to Wigan. Then went to the Princes Cinema 1st House before returning to his lodgings on Ormskirk Road. Pemberton. His camera was 2 months old so still getting used to it. It must be 55 years since I walked through Dean Wood from Standish

Years ago I can remember it being in the local paper about a hermit that lived in the cave that was in there, and then later it was reported that a hippy commune had moved in, I doubt anyone lasting long in there though with the damp and mud, and if I remember correctly it was also cold too with not being in the sun. You are so lucky Barrie to have the information to go with the photo. I have of photos of people & places but havent a clue as to where & who.
