The pub's date plate records it was built in 1700 - that for Bark Hill Farm next door records it was built in 1765.

Tell me, is the pub still open?

A friend of mine's "Local".
Looks an interesting pub, though I have never been in. xx

Known locally as ' The Stone Ale House' never went in but I know lads that did and enjoyed their pint or three in there.

I’ve only been in there once - years ago. It seemed a very cosy and quaint place to have a drink.

As regards being open. I drove into Wigan past the pub. It looked closed but many pubs are during the day. There appeared to be building materials just outside.

Its been close for a couple of years now, I used to go in regularly when I lived in New Springs.
Thanks Wigan Mick for making the video of your visit to the Colliers, my wife and I enjoyed watching it very much.

What a shame it’s closed after all the renovations to the building.

I am sure I saw the Colliers Arms up for sale on Right Move in 2021. I don’t know what the state of play is with ownership now, but it has been closed ever since then.

Been in here a few times but not for several years. The proprietors then were in in-laws of my daughters' friend.I believe it has wattle and daub walls.

Drove past many times. Often fancied calling in there, but I never did. Well, like so many other places, it was always going to be there, wasn’t it?

Forgot to add . . .
Looks like the sort of place which should have a resident ghost (or two)

It's Adam here from Westhoughton's Escape Brewery. It's great to see this article and understand the history of The Colliers and all your memories. We are working towards re-opening the pub over the coming months to be our 2nd brewery tap house. We cannot wait to get open and meet you all and share a pint! :-)
