Irene,I've just today received a Wigan Directory for 1905. 500 pages FULL of information on, Peoples Professions, Location of Yards, Streets etc. and a list of all streets, yards etc. and their Occupants listed by house numbers .
Wow!! I must say I've only just discovered the 1968 directory that you have put on "stuff" and find it fascinating, particularly the Ince and Hindley part, as I remember people on it. Thankyou so much for putting that on.
It would be very interesting if you could put the 1905 directory list of all streets, house numbers and their occupants on the site. Although I imagine it will be a major task? I really enjoyed looking through the 1968 directory of streets and occupants. It brought back memories of people and neighbours whom I'd forgot about!
Rich, not much chance of scanning the book It has 520 pages.. Just spent a couple of hours perusing the contents It contains masses of information Even includes lists of all the post boxes and the collection times The directory covers:- WIgan, Ince, Hindley, Pemberton, Ashton, Aspull Abram.
