You DO surprise me John, how attentive of you !! Whether you realise or not, the gentleman who posted these is the original photographer who took the photographs in 1972.

Some great photos Frank from 51 years ago this year, who would have thought then that we'd all be computer savvy and have them at home, even on our laps too, back in 1972 they were the size of a house and you needed to be a boffin to use them.

On the front of the knackered van it says Catering Services, it couldn't be made out yesterday, maybe the food hygiene inspectors wasn't as fussy then, if was still being used to carry food.

Mobile phones take some really cracking photos without having any photography skills, we've come a long way. No need to pay professional photographers top money for your wedding or birthdays shoots. Just look at Dennis's photo in yesterday's Photo a Day its great .

A Bedford Viva HA van is travelling along Scot Lane towards Blackrod, and parked is a Mini van, identified as a van with the metal slatted grille that was not a feature of Mini cars. Note the small lamp posts and not tall lamp posts on a main road that is used by lorries and buses.

Both are vans on the left, Mini and Austin van. Both have roof vents, only vans have this.

The 2 lads are stood in front of Winrow's shop, an old fashioned grocers complete with bacon slicer, (a bit like Arkwright's in Open All Hours). It was run by Arthur and his son Walt (I think, its a long time ago!). My brother Ste Seddon used to live in the last house in the row for a while. The writing was on the wall for all the houses on this side of the Scot Lane, you can see the 1st house already has the windows bricked up.
