The last remnants, destroyed by stealth... although some would disagree I suppose. The old buildings look out of place against the 'tall flats' .

That was a quiet day.
This photograph was taken before 1985 when the Horseshoe pub and all the adjacent buildings were demolished to make way for the ring road. Boyswell House can be seen and the maisonette flats identical to those in Worsley Mesnes and Dumbarton Green, Beech Hill.

As a child, I remember having swimming lessons at Wigan baths (the one demolished before the present leisure centre) and the front area near to the Horseshoe Pub was full of lawns, trees and greenery.
Once Riversway was built in the late 1980s it has turned into a concrete jungle of non-stop traffic.
