Wigan Album

Behind this gateway is Wigan Hall where the last rector of Wigan parish church lived, Canon Malcolm Forrest who died in 2008.There was even a residence in the gateway building where the verger of the church and his wife lived until the mid 1980s. In November 1984 the 84 year old verger and his 83 year old wife were viciously attacked by burglars, and very soon after moved out.

I never knew that was used as a place of residence Mr X, nor did I know that a husband and wife in their 80s who resided there had been viciously attacked by cowardly thugs who most likely knew they wouldn't be able to fight back. I hope they did or shall get what they so well deserve.

Mr Cowan, who was the verger and his family lived there in the 1960s.
