Can anyone tell me the date this gate structure was constructed?
According to Historic England, it was constructed around 1840.

Thank you, Brian.
I remember being an apprentice and the boss giving me a job at a number of a house Plantation Gates. I went to the location of this picture could not find the house went back to the shop only to be told Plantation Gates was name of a street in Whelley found it eventually.
Just for the record - This building is listed under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 as amended for its special architectural or historic interest, English Heritage has it as follows:-
Heritage Category: Listed Building Grade: II*
List Entry Number: 1384570
Date first listed: 24-Oct-1951
Statutory Address: GATEWAY AND LODGES TO HAIGH HALL PARK, WIGAN LANE
"GATEWAY AND LODGES TO HAIGH HALL PARK, WIGAN LANE" Now that makes sense. I asked about the date, as I wondered about our calling it 'Plantation Gates' when it apparently pre-dates the laying out of the plantations.
