I don't remember a slide on William Foster playing field's I was on there quite a lot with a friend who lived just off Darlington At.

Wherever it is it’s a cracking picture. I love the guy on the left even though he looks like he’s come straight from slopping out his Pig Sty. He obviously sees the photo shoot as a great opportunity for a quick drag on his Woodbine!

Johnny: If Philip G had been with you that day he'd have shown you how to take that shine off the ball, he was very good at football as a young chap.

Comment by: Johnny on 9th April 2020 at 08:43

John G
I often had a kick-about with PhilipG on the field between London Fields and Royden Road Billinge.
You know he could send a ball over in such a manner that you wouldn't head the laces
By the cringe those old leather balls were heavy !!

Definitely Fosters playing fields. Used to be a min of 4 football pitches (before council planted more trees), the bowling green and changing rooms are behind the cameraman. That slide was fantastic but came down because of health and safety. We used to run up the slide! There was also a roundabout! Entertainment then was simple stuff!
