So familiar and to think the presbytery is still there, but I don't think the step is mopped these days! There seemed to be an obsession for mopping steps at that time...must be the priests' housekeeper or daily help, it would be needed for a house that size.

This is Powell Street outside St Johm's church presbytery. Across the road was the Drill Hall and next door was the Coop that became Kitchen Queen as I remember in the 1980s and may have become a discount store. And there is the three storey buildings that included a newsagent. All were demolished in 1985 to make way for the ring road except the Whitesmiths pub to the right next to Brick Kiln Lane.
