A house with style.
About 1998.
What a lovely house,in a lovely area.1
It is a lovely house. I lived here in the late 1950s, beautiful square well proportioned rooms, lovely large garden , half of it laid to lawn. Old stables and mounting block to the rear. Dear Mr and Mrs Lilly lived on one side with council offices and clinic on the other. The kitchen still contained the original fire/stove. Very useful in winter for long slow cooking of stews! I travelled every day by bus in to Wigan to the Hollies, the Convent Prep school and my friend from the Hollies, Josie Hegarty, lived in Haigh……..her father was a dentist in Wigan. Memories also of “Walking” in Wakes week and the library, conveniently across the common land in front of the house.
