Ho no! I seem to have cut Wellington’s ball off! There should be a ball on top of his monument but it’s gone missing! Ho well he!ll just have to manage without it I suppose.

The monument has been restored, and the area around cleared to create a better setting since then.

A number of years ago I went to Waterloo. There was a large lion atop of a plinth in the centre of a 40mtr mound. It's front paw was on top of a big ball....Could that be the missing ball?...I doubt it will be returned the French won't admit to defeat!
