I remember the wire mesh over the hole in the tree. I couldn’t make my mind up wether it was there to keep the critters out of the hole or wether it was there to keep the human critters from using it to dump their rubbish in.

Haigh Hall on a winter day in 1996.This could be timeless except for the 20 or so cars parked outside that include a Nissan Sunny coupe, Citroen ZX and Toyota minibus, so something was taking place inside.

Years ago, a friend of a friend took us on a tour of the Hall.. The upstairs rooms and roof were in very bad shape, he would have to tell us where to walk so we wouldn't fall through the floor.. It must have been such a amazing place though, even though it was falling apart, you could tell what a very Grand place it used to be.. I would loved to have seen it as it was in it's Glory days..

does anyone remember the old wooden watch tower that looked over Haigh hall ?
