June 2000.
I see the ghosts of manners paid
Across the garden's linen, laid.
And summer-spread by Jeannie, brought,
With jellied trifle quickly sought.
Then one child 'folded at a stance
To find three others just by chance.
Yet mother's words, to young bereft,
Of which had 'slumber' softly crept.
Nice pic DTease. Thanks.
What a nice photo, a peaceful scene DTease. What does a Fold mean locally ? In Norfolk we have the term...Lokes, a short side lane with a cottage..or not.
Lovely verse Philip.
Thanks Helen. And I hope that you've been met by a favourable 'big sky' this morning. Take care.
Helen, I believe a “Fold” was originally an enclosure for sheep.
When I was fifty two,
It was a very good year,
With hot Summer days,
And pastures of fresh green hue.......
I wish Philip, I would rather be back in time & standing outside that lovely house in the sun ! The day started off well, could see blue sky & the little church on the cliff but all gone, grey & wet now.....hey ho !
