The swan is called Alice,
I am called June
we meet here each morning
when most are in school.
She tells me her stories
and I tell her mine,
hers are more interesting,
but mine tend to rhyme.
Most think I'm silly
for talking like this,
But to some it is silly,
whilst to others its bliss..
You came to me, not long ago
Then small had we to share -
His Lordship's call for 'That with sloe!',
Had shook our silent air.
But now he sleeps his drunk away,
'neath wild - now trophied heads,
So, soon you'll have on dappled way
Much more of snow-white breads.
Still stands Leda by the water,
As on the mirrored moat,
Zeus sings to her , " Shall our daughter
Launch a thousand boats? "
our local dialect has morphed into gobbledegook but enjoyable
The focus takes you to the girl and the swan , but the whole picture has the ‘lament ‘ of a world that was more gentle , that has now gone . Our rush to move forward and progress , has left us with only pictures of timeless moments like this .
To the modernists on WW , I admit to being both physically and mentally very close to the ‘clapped out’ stage of life , but give me this time any day , as opposed to the dog eat dog , rush rush , world we now live in . I knew where I was then , now I don’t have any idea from one day to the next . And , forgive me , but looks like , the Politicians have an even lesser idea . So where does that leave us ? Magical picture Ron , Thank you for posting .
Ron I am a member of Wigan Golf Club and just recently I acquired The Wigan Century: A History of Wigan Golf Club 1898-1998 by Jack Winstanley, Only just started reading it fascinating to read how it evolved to what it is today. We now have Black Swans on the Moat have done for quite a long time.
