One of the most pleasant areas anywher in Wigan in my view , or at least it used to be before they developed that abominable amusement park at Haigh hall , and everyone started using it as a short cut between The Balcarres and Red Rock.
The house on the left I believe used to be occupied by a doctor if I'm not mistaken , I think his son lives there now .
If it's the same house as the Doctor owned I knew his wife. I remember going there to a celebratory soiree after finishing college in 1990 we were on the same course at BHIE. It was beautiful inside - I don't know if they still live there it's a long time ago.
Doctor Howarth was a fine doctor who put his patients welfare first on all occasions. He went above and beyond the call of duty for members of my family more than once.
I think the doctor was the son of Jack 'Tomorrow' if it's the same doctor .
I remember Jack Tomorrow, Veronica. xxx
He seemed like an absent minded professor to me with a shock of white/grey hair. The times I went there and had to go back the day after Irene, like many others.
Wasn't Jack Tomorrow the chemist Jack Melling at the bottom of Burkett Bank ? I remember it wrll .
Yes he was Carolean his shop was 'organised chaos' - very untidy or so it seemed. But very interesting when you had a long wait.
I know the doctor was some relation perhaps Jack Tomorrow was his uncle!
Jack Tomorrow? Ha, ha, ha, ha...:)
