Now that’s what you call a BIG boat!
I can’t see how you would get that through a Lock.
Wonder if it’s still around.

It's a bit difficult to assess its length from the photograph- but it obviously didn't fly there - so it must have come through locks. I think it may be over the 58' maximum length of the Wigan Flight (hence the Leeds & Liverpool 'short boats' built for the section from Wigan eastwards) - so it's probably come through the 72' locks which are standard on the rest of the canal system. It's still small compared to the 30 metres (around 120') of the smaller commercial craft on Continental waterways.
