Wigan Boatyard was on the right hand side of Wallgate as you go over the bridge (opposite to Wilcock St). Buildings are visible on the 1890 maps but no pubs named. The wall or fence the old chap is leaning on has a rising incline which means it was in one of two places, where the Seven Stars stood, which it wasn't, or in the boatyard
Bob where is the mention of a BOATYARD? It's BOATMAN..
Boatmen work in boatyard. Not rocket science

“... The Boatmans Arms was a pub on the canal in Abbedene. This was my Grandfather’s local as a young man, he and his family had a transport company James Monk & Sons on the canal.”
Quite correct Joanne, there was a pub called The Boatman's Arms at Aberdeen village which was right on the canal.
It consisted of a row of houses, the pub which is now a private dwelling is still there.
Around that area is known as Little Scotland.
Well aware of the Boatman at Aberdeen, it's still there.
