Mrs. Mary Harrison on Hindley fair ground about 1951

When she first saw this photograph, she said "Eee, somebodies pinned some medals on me." Of course, what it was, for some unknown reason, the camera was placed behind a glass window which reflected the fairground lights.

A great social history picture of the early fifties. - smartly dressed children, well wrapped up against the cold. If it had been a coloured photo, no doubt rosy cheeks would have been in evidence as well as the itchy woollen socks! Another photo to jog the memory. Thank you for sharing Roger it's another great one.

I have good memories of Hindley fair in the 50's when it was on the land behind Woolworths, bright lights and loud music. What a happy feeling it was

Very atmospheric and nostalgic photo. It used to be so exciting going to the fair as the nights drew in! Love the tan-sad!

The pram used to be known as a Tansad.
Maybe some of our lady friends on here will know that.
