Further to the discussion surrounding Keith's photo.
Possible locations that feature on it.
Before the nay sayers start saying that isn't St George's church/St John's church/Moot Hall etc, can I suggest they were perhaps the artists interpretation of the buildings - possibly working from a rough sketch, after he had left the scene?
1)St George's church.
2) St John's church.
3) Millgate.
4)The old Moot Hall.
5) The old Town Hall.
6)All Saints Church.

So it is artistic licence after all, and sketched from around the area which is now Mesnes Park. Thanks JackH.

Maybe he also later added St Catharine's which Veronica suggested the steeple at the rear of the chimmney to be.

Just one small problem, how could he have added St Catharines since it would be at least 10 years before it was built and this sketch was published in a book in 1829?

Thanks all for correcting me - St George's church is still there though, but I can't remember it looking like that. I recall cutting through the Street where it's situated from Greenough St when going 'up town'.

I have looked up St Mary's church Standishgate built in 1818 could that be the church between 1 and 2 in the background? It is very similar with its small steeple.
