There's a timeless feel to these pictures - even though we see them often on PaD - there's something different about them and I can't say what it is exactly.

I'd considered 'that something' regarding DTease's pics, as well, Veronica; my muse on those 1960s Super 8 home movies, perhaps. And yes, lovely offerings from Mr Tease.

Veronica. I think what "it" is in a good photograph, is that there is no distraction from the image. There's no movement, smell, sound or the weather eyc. It's just the image and of course that immediately conjures up your own distinctive memories and emotions. I know it does for me bringing back memories of being in this spot from when I was little in the 1950s to when I left Wigan in 1970.

I know exactly what you all mean about this photo. It's somehow timeless. It could ne the 1950s yet it could be yesterday.

" Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again" ( Haigh Hall) !
Great opening lines to the novel "Rebecca" by Daphne Du Maurier...
I think it's something of that nature....for me anyway. Especially when I see the Hall in the distance.

For me it is the light that gives these pictures their unique quality. Soft and diffused. Golden sometimes ,lending an air of antique.
