Julie, I think Arnold Singer was more closely attached to St David's Haigh. A keen scout master with St John's New Springs. Arnold lived in a new house on Copperas Lane before moving to North Yorkshire probably back in the 1970s

Good photo of the council, dark haired bespectacled man just left of Centre is Tommy Green, he served as chairman at one time, he was also Pres. of Aspull Labour Club when my dad Jimmy R was the treasurer, Jack Ashcroft as secretary. Good old days.

Third man from the right looks like Percy Sugden.

Julie and Wiggin Lad. Arnold Singer originally lived in CaleLane, New Springs and attended St John the Baptist. When he moved to Haigh he then switched to St David's.

Arnold Singer was the District Commissioner for The Wigan and District Scouts in the 1970s and I believe that his wife Gladys was the District Commissioner for Guides round about the same time

The lady in the centre in white, I assume is the secretary. Her face is very familiar but I can't remember her name???

3rd from right would probably be John Moore, a 4 time chairman of the UDC, who was first elected a councillor back in the thirties.

Previous note should have read possibly not probably.
